Summarly is a back office for every small business: hours, invoices, payments, receipts and tax deadlines kept in one set of books — the same books the accountant works from.

I’m looking for a Founding Accountant to bring deep accounting experience into the product, help customers get real value from it, and help us shape what we build next.

This is not a traditional accounting role, and it is not a management role.

You’ll work closely with me across product, customers, and go-to-market. Your accounting background will help us make better product decisions, understand how real workflows operate, and guide customers on how to use Summarly effectively.

What you’ll do

  • Bring hands-on accounting experience into product decisions
  • Help us understand how accounting and back-office workflows actually work in practice
  • Test new product capabilities and identify where they need to improve
  • Work directly with customers to help them adopt Summarly and get value from it
  • Educate and advise customers on how to structure their workflows around the product
  • Gather feedback and turn real customer problems into product insights
  • Run demos and onboarding sessions
  • Speak with prospective customers and help us understand what resonates
  • Work closely with the founder across product, customer development, and early growth

Who we’re looking for

You probably have around 3–6 years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally working with SMEs.

You should understand areas such as bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT, month-end processes, year-end preparation, reporting, and client communication.

But the most important thing is how you think. You should be someone who:

  • Understands accounting deeply enough to challenge how things are done today
  • Enjoys helping customers solve problems
  • Can explain accounting concepts clearly to non-accountants
  • Is curious about technology and AI
  • Likes testing products and spotting what could be better
  • Is comfortable speaking with prospective customers
  • Is happy working in an early-stage environment without a detailed playbook
  • Wants to help build something, not simply operate an existing process

This role is hands-on

This is an early-stage company, so there will be plenty of practical work.

You’ll spend time testing workflows, reviewing real examples, helping customers configure and use the product, answering questions, and figuring out what does and doesn’t work.

We’re looking for someone who understands the details because they’ve done the work themselves — and now wants to apply that experience to building a better product.

Why join

You’ll have a real influence over what Summarly becomes.

You’ll work directly with the founder and help shape the product, how we work with customers, and how we bring it to market.

This is a founding role for someone who wants to sit at the intersection of accounting, product, and customers.

How to apply

If that sounds interesting, I’d love to hear from you. Send a few lines on the accounting work you’ve done, and a CV or LinkedIn profile, to founders@summarly.com.
